I may sell durians when I retire, says Fuzi

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun is unfazed by the prospect of retirement and jokes that he may even sell durians.

The Inspector-General of Police, due for compulsory retirement in May, said he would happily retire when his time comes.

“I am definitely not worried about the prospect of retirement.

“When it is time for me to go, then I will go,” he told a press conference after attending the 63rd anniversary celebration of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) yesterday.

He said Deputy IGP Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim would also be retiring.

“He (Noor Rashid) will retire next month, which is earlier than me.

“We are looking forward to retirement. We have done all we can to fulfil our responsibilities to the best of our abilities.

“Maybe members of the media will see me selling durians after retirement,” he joked.

On another matter, Mohamad Fuzi said police hoped to boost the number of FRU female personnel, including those in Sabah and Sarawak.

The number of personnel for the Special Action Unit (UTK) and VAT 69 needed to be increased too, he said.

On a separate matter, Mohamad Fuzi said the 37-year-old man arrested for placing idols at a surau in Klang had been remanded until Thursday.

“We will ask for an extension if needed. “The investigation will be expedited to ensure that the suspect is prosecuted according to the full extent of the law,” he said.

The suspect was detained at about 6.15pm on Sunday in connection with the placing of idols at the Sabilul Huda surau in Taman Pendamar, Klang, on Wednesday and Saturday.
