Perlis to know their fate in two days
PETALING JAYA: Perlis will know their fate in the Premier League in the next 48 hours.
The Northern Lions were booted from the M-League by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) board last Wednesday after the state football association’s financial documents showed they lacked funds to run the team for the 2019 season.
Perlis were give seven days to appeal and their FA deputy president Mohd Abdul Karim Khan Mansor Ahmad Khan submitted their appeal along with supporting financial documents including sponsorship deals at the MFL headquarters here yesterday.
Abdul Karim hoped their updated documents will convince the MFL board of directors to let them continue playing in the Premier League.
He also added that the players unpaid wages from the 2018 and 2019 season will be paid by their new sponsors.
“We have submitted the documents on the sponsorship of the team, financial report and our financial plans ... we hope it can convince the MFL,” said Abdul Karim.
“If the MFL let us play, the new sponsors have agreed to settle the owed wages. If they decide not to change their decision, we will discuss again with them to get the annual grant as we were told that there’s still a chance for that ... after all we just want the grant so we can solve the unpaid wages.”
Abdul Karim said he is willing to cooperate with the authorities over the allegation of seven former Perlis players on the embezzlement of their salaries in 2018.
“I knew about the police report made by the players from the media yesterday. I too will lodge a police report to deny their allegations because it’s baseless.
“I’ll leave it to the authorities to investigate the case.”
