PETALING JAYA: School-leavers unsure about what to do next can visit the Star Education Fair 2019, which will be held on April 6 and 7.

Known as a one-stop centre for students and their parents to obtain information about different courses and subjects as they decide on the next step, the fair will be held for the first time at Sunway Convention Centre.

Visitors will be able to access information on a wide range of programmes and professional qualifications.

Education and career talks will also be held. Representatives from higher education institutions attended the balloting session at Menara Star to vie for strategic booths at the event.

Quest International University Perak is the largest exhibitor at the event with 16 booths.

Its student recruitment senior manager Thirukumaran Arumugam said the university, which aims to produce job-ready graduates, will be highlighting its engineering, medical, pharmacy and IT courses.

“We had good response from previous Star Education Fairs, which is why we continue to take part. The fair enables potential students from the city to make direct contact with the university based in Ipoh, Perak,” said Thirukumaran, adding that scholarships based on merit are up for grabs during the fair.

SEGi University and Colleges marketing executive Blake Tay Yu Xiang encouraged students to attend the fair as it is a good avenue to find the most suitable course and university.

“The fair enables students to find out more about promotions, scholarships and bursaries, and take career tests,” said Tay.

City University Malaysia business development manager Nik Ahmad Fitri Nik Azman said students who visit the fair stand a chance to walk away with full scholarships.

“A-Level students could get a full scholarship if they get 5As and above and pass our interview. The same for students who enrol in our foundation programme,” he said, adding that there are 100 scholarships available for A-Level students.

Those who are unsure of their next step can also consult experienced counsellors at the fair, added Nik Ahmad Fitri.

“Students who visit us at the fair could also get free hostel accommodation for one year,” he said, adding early bird discounts are also available.

“The Star Education Fair is a good platform for all students to gather information on various courses. They can get a better understanding of entry requirements,” said Nagen.
