Morales urges teammates to play smart in Kedah clash

SHAH ALAM: PKNS have to be intelligent when facing Kedah in the Super League at the Darulaman Stadium today.

Dynamic midfielder Romel Morales has urged his teammates to play smart in Alor Setar as he predicts the Red Eagles will play a whole different game in front of their home fans.

The Red Ants are on a good run of form as they have won their last two matches – beating Selangor 4-0 and PKNP 1-0 – and look to continue the superb run by shocking table toppers Kedah.

“Kedah are a top side and can be indomitable when they play at their stadium. I’m sure the atmosphere will be crazy, we are in for a tough match,” said Morales.

“They have many new players and are experienced. They know how to shift into fifth gear at the right time.

“PKNS will have to be focused throughout the match. We have to be smart with our game plan,” said the 21-year-old.

The Colombian has been instrumental in the middle of the park for PKNS, thanks to his tenacity, work rate and ability to outfox teams with his pinpoint through balls.

The box-to-box midfielder joined the club in 2018 and is vital in charting the team’s match tempo in every game.

Head coach Datuk K. Rajagopal knows the team are up for a daunting task but has urged his players to showing strength and resilience against Kedah.

“We were under pressure against PKNP, but the players showed great determination. Even when Kpah Sherman was sent off, the players

showed that with 10 men, they can still put up a fight,” said Rajagopal.

“Kedah are playing with confidence at the moment because they are top of the table.

“They have a different approach to every game.

“PKNS will surely miss Sherman, but we will go there with confidence and play according to our

game plan.

“I have told my players not to fear them.”

The Klang Valley side are currently fourth in the league with seven points after notching two wins, a draw and one defeat while Kedah are unbeaten in the league with 10 points after winning three matches and drawing one.
