Out of this world launch
GENTING HIGHLANDS: The new Samsung Galaxy S10 is out of this world, literally. For the local launch, Samsung sent 10 Galaxy S10 flagship smartphones into the stratosphere from various sites in Perak.
As they ascend, they will take snapshots and when they reach 80,000ft, they will take a bird’s eye shot of the Earth.
The electronic giant claims “the video will be brighter and more dynamic than any video taken on a smartphone because its pro-grade camera is capable of recording videos in HDR10+”.
Samsung Malaysia Electronics president Yoonsoo Kim said the launch is the best way to encapsulate the success and celebration of the Galaxy S series which turns 10 this year.
“The past decade has been illustrious for us; we have revolutionised the device we hold firm in our palms and close to our hearts,” he said at the Galaxy S10 official launch here.

There are three models in the range – the Galaxy S10 and S10+ have a 6.1in and 6.4in curved screen, respectively, while the S10e has a flat 5.8in screen.
The Galaxy S10 and S10+ feature triple main cameras on the back – a 16-megapixel sensor with ultrawide angle lens, 12-megapixel sensor with wide-angle lens and 12-megapixel sensor with telephoto lens.
Both also feature an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which is hidden under the screen.
Samsung will be having Galaxy S10 roadshows from March 8 to 10 at Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur, Aeon Tebrau City in Johor Baru and Queensbay Mall in Penang.
Those who get a Galaxy S10e 128GB (RM2,699) at the roadshow will get a pair of Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds worth RM499.
The Galaxy S10 128GB (RM3,299) and S10+ 128GB (RM3,699) will come with Galaxy Buds and Screen Protection Plus worth RM779.
And the Galaxy S10+ 512GB (RM4,599) will come with a Galaxy Watch Active smartwatch and Screen Protection Plus worth RM1,079.
All three models will be available in Prism White, Prism Black and Prism Green while only the S10+ will come in Ceramic White and Ceramic Black.
