M’sian awarded for China travelogue
A BOOK by local writer Nyana Simon about his travels in China has won an award from the prestigious Puduvai Thamizh Sangam in Tamil Nadu, reported Malaysia Nanban.
Simon, who is the treasurer of the Malaysian Tamil Writers Association, attended the Golden Jubilee celebration of the India-based writers guild with several representatives from the association.
His book titled China Mannil Simon (Simon in China) had won several awards including the Tan Sri Manickavasagam Book Awards 2018 in Malaysia, and a special award at the Ulaga Thirukkural Peravai 2018 in India.
> A worker from India who was abandoned by his employer after he suffered a stroke was sent home with the help of the Malaysia Global Rescue Humanity organisation, reported Makkal Osai.
Harichandran Nadesan had been working at the recycling metal workshop when he fell ill and was admitted to hospital.
The factory management apparently advised Harichandran not to reveal the employer’s identity before transferring him to a government hospital.
The victim was then abandoned at the hospital, said MGRH president T. Kamalanathan.
His brother found out about his situation after two weeks and contacted the social service organisation for help.
MGRH discussed the matter with the Immigration Department who agreed to allow the stroke victim to return home, said Kamalanathan.
Harichandran returned home to Tamil Nadu accompanied by his brother Palani on tickets provided by MGRH.
