Police step in to tame wild drug party at condo

GEORGE TOWN: A wild party attended by 22 people, including five teenage boys and girls, was cut short when a police team came knocking at the condominiu­m unit in Bukit Gambier here.

Nineteen of them tested positive for drugs.

Also detained were the teenagers, including two girls, aged 16 and 17.

Police found a packet of ganja, nine packets of ketamin and eight ecstasy pills in the living room during the 2am raid yesterday.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang told reporters here that the group comprising 15 male and seven female had turned the ‘homestay’ unit into a drug party.

“They will be investigat­ed for possession of dangerous drugs.

“We have brought all of them to the district headquarte­rs for further investigat­ion,” he said.

At the same condominiu­m block on Tuesday, police also picked up two men, aged 19 and 36, at another unit for firearm and drugs possession.

ACP Che Zaimani said a bottle containing five packets of cocaine, a packet of heroin, 10 WY pills or pil kuda and a packet of marijuana in the unit.

He said they also recovered a slingbag containing a pistol with a live bullet wrapped in a towel from the 36-year-old man.

“Initially, we found nothing before we spotted a weighing scale and a live bullet on the sofa,” he said.

ACP Che Zaimani said the older man has three drug-related records while the younger man has seven drug-related offences.

He said they were being investigat­ed under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1971.
