Eye-roll journalist back in the spotlight

-

A CHINESE reporter whose theatrical eye-roll antics spurred a social media frenzy last year is back in the news.

China Press reported that Liang Xiangyi had stolen the show with her sitting posture and long legs.

Photos of her at the annual plenary sessions of the Chinese National People’s Congress and Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference appeared over social media on Tuesday.

The photo caption read “eye-roll lady is back but not the lady in red dress”.

Both the congress and conference are holding meetings in Beijing for a week.

In March 2018, while covering a press conference, Liang stared at a reporter and rolled her eyes in exasperation over a question on the Belt and Road initiative.

However, the photos were deleted from social media sites in China, suggesting that the Chinese authorities could be cracking down on the news that put the Chinese media industry in a bad light.

> Taiwanese actress and TV host Barbie Hsu, fondly known as Big S, has spoken out about the rumoured estranged relationship with her husband.

Sin Chew Daily quoted Apple Daily as saying that the 42-year-old claimed their marriage was stable.

“If I ever fight with my husband, it’s because he entertains a lot and returns home late at night,” she said.

Hsu’s mother also said that her son-in-law Wang Xiaofei tended to be loud when he was drunk.

Wang quashed the rumours, saying that he was perplexed by the news of his “divorce” .
