All’s still calm in Perak as they seek to end winless run

-

PETALING JAYA: Perak are not pressing the panic button although they have not won any matches in the Super League.

Instead, head coach Mehmet Durakovic is confident the winless streak will end when they face Petaling Jaya City today at the Perak Stadium.

Durakovic has asked his players to stay focused throughout regulation time to get the desired result.

“Focus is essential in any sport. On the pitch, they have to give their all. And for 90 minutes, they’ve to be focused,” said Durakovic.

“Players can work hard on the training pitch but if they lose focus on match day, they will be punished.

“I can do as much as I can to boost the players’ confidence, but the players themselves have to work on their mental strength on the pitch.”

Perak are ninth with only three points from four matches as they lost to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in the first match of the season and drew their last three games against Kedah, Felda United and Terengganu.

Durakovic hopes his team will be more clinical upfront.

“This comes with experience. They have played four matches in the league, I’m sure they’ve gained experience and also understanding on how to put the ball into the back of the net.

“The team have been creating chances but the decision-making strategies in front of the goal mouth have to be rectified.

“They’re mentally strong and confident and I’m hoping they will get their act right against PJ City and deliver,” he said.
