MULTIMEDIA University (MMU) students have the opportunity to intern and secure a job opportunity with Huawei through a scholarship.

Thanks to a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed between Yayasan University Multimedia (YUM), a non-profit organisation under MMU, and Huawei, the latter is offering a five-year scholarship worth RM420,000 to eligible students from the varsity’s Engineering, Information Technology (IT) and Business & Accounting programmes.

Recipients will also have the opportunity to attend the Huawei Technical Training Programme.

The agreement adds to the university’s international recognition, said MMU president Prof Datuk Dr Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq.

“Huawei has chosen the right university in its effort to nurture a new generation of knowledgeable workers as our graduates have long been sought after by the industry,” he added.

Describing MMU as a university that produces quality graduates and talents for the ICT industry, Huawei Malaysia chief executive officer Baker Zhou said about 213 of Huawei’s staff and experts working around the world are MMU graduates.

Also present at the signing ceremony were YUM chairman Tun Zaki Azmi and director Noorlindah Hassan as well as Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd vice president Zac Chow Chii En.
