‘Umno, PAS need to refocus’
Perak MB: They should do their jobs and not fuel conspiracy
IPOH: Perak Umno and PAS assemblymen should focus on their jobs as the opposition instead of fuelling the conspiracy about the fall of the state government, says Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
“They have too much time on their hands. They should be concentrating on how to be a good opposition instead of wasting time trying to bring down the state government,” he said.
Ahmad Faizal was asked to comment on an alleged attempt to topple him as the Mentri Besar.
Barisan Nasional chairman Dat uk Saarani Mohamad had claimed that the move, purportedly made by a state executive councillor, had the blessings of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
On a message going viral about a swearing-in ceremony to form a new state government under Barisan, Ahmad Faizal described it as “nonsense”.
“It’s not healthy. There are a mischievous lot spreading these rumours and they think that it’s funny.
“I think it’s better that they use their creativity for something more productive and beneficial,” he told reporters after opening SMK Anderson’s Sports Day here yesterday.
Ahmad Faizal also said there would be no changes to the current state exco line-up and that he had good relations with the state exco members.
“Whether we are still on strong footing is irrelevant.
“Today we, as the state government, only need to do our job and perform our duties to the best of our ability.
“It’s not to ensure that assemblymen from Umno or PAS cross over and make us stronger,” he said.
