Anuar Zain urges better pay for singers

-

ANUAR Zain has urged that singers be paid reasonably for performing on TV, Berita Harian reported.

“The payment has to be reasonable. For good performance, I need to pay an audio engineer, make-up artist and pay for my outfit and transport.

“The price tag has to be equivalent to the cost,” he said.

Anuar said the current pay was not really worth it.

“I am not speaking for myself but for other artistes too.

“I hope we get what we are worth. I know we need to be tolerant but how long should singers sacrifice?” he asked.

The 49-year-old crooner said while he did not want to be seen as an exclusive singer, he was selective when receiving invitations.

On a separate matter, Anuar plans to release a new studio album in conjunction with his 50th birthday on Feb 15 next year.

Saharul said he never thought of singing until he met composer Ajai, to whom he passed lyrics he had written for other singers.

Ajai, however, thought he should be the one singing.

“I know I cannot sing well. But I am interested in writing lyrics and rapping,” he said.
