King’s thoughts and prayers with shooting victims, Pasir Gudang

PETALING JAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah condemned the shootings at two mosques in New Zealand which caused the deaths of 49 people and injured 20 others.

Describing the incident as a senseless act against innocent civilians, the King said that those responsibl­e should be brought to justice.

“Our thoughts and prayers are for the injured and those who are mourning the loss of loved ones,” His Majesty said in a statement issued by the Comptrolle­r of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin.

The statement was issued in response to the shooting incident on Friday at Al-Noor Mosque near Hagley Park and Linwood Mosque in Christchur­ch.

The King also prayed for the swift recovery of the three Malaysians injured in the incident.

In another statement, Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed his sympathy for the victims of the contaminat­ion incident in Pasir Gudang and prayed for their recovery.

His Majesty viewed seriously the incident and hoped victims who went for early screening at the Medic Base, Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium, were doing well.

The King also called on Malaysians to pray that the contaminat­ion in Pasir Gudang would not worsen.

As of midnight yesterday, 65 more people were admitted to hospital due to the chemical waste pollution in Sungai Kim Kim, bringing the total number being treated for toxic inhalation to 371 people.

As of Friday, 4,035 people had sought treatment due to the contaminat­ion since last March 7.
