Hitman Sherman returns and has revenge on his mind

PETALING JAYA: Liberian hitman Kpah Sherman (pic) is hell-bent on revenge when PKNS take on Melaka in the FA Cup.

After losing 0-1 to the Mousedeers in their opening Super League match, the 27-year-old striker wants to eliminate the star-studded side in the second round of the Cup tie at the Shah Alam Stadium today.

Having missed the last two league games against Felda United and Petaling Jaya City due to suspension, Sherman is eager to get back to action for the Red Ants.

“I want to exact revenge on them as they denied us a winning start to the new season,” said the Liberian international.

“I’m confident we can get a result against Melaka. This is a knockout tournament and we should avoid making mistakes.

“We must remain positive. They have quality players like Safiq Rahim, Casagrande and Shukor Adan but we too have our share of top players.”

Sherman added that the painful defeat was also a blessing in disguise.

“After that loss, we started to play more as a unit.

“There was a sense of camaraderie and we were much more organised.”

He also vowed to make amends after missing two matches.

“Now that I’m back I just want to score as many goals as possible and help my team win. We have been creating chances in every match and I must make it count.”

Sherman, who has a legion of Liberian fans in Malaysia, hopes they will throng the Shah Alam Stadium.

“I hope they come for this game. We need as much support as possible.

“These fans come because they feel a sense of national pride when they see one of their own players in a foreign league.

“Their presence certainly motivates me and I hope it has the same effect on my teammates.”
