JPJ targets RM1.5mil for ‘KES’ plate series

THE Kedah Road Transport Department (JPJ) is aiming to get RM1.5mil in bids for the “KES” series vehicle registration numbers, Harian Metro reported.

State JPJ director Ismasuhaimi Shariff said bidding for the registration numbers KES 1 to KES 9999 opened on Monday and will close at midnight on April 15.

He expressed confidence in achieving the RM1.5mil target based on the amount received from previous registration number series, namely KEN (RM4.13mil), KEE (RM1.87mil) and KER (RM1.16mil).

“Many people are not open-minded enough to talk about depression,” said Tasha.

> The Terengganu government has rejected the use of a RM3mil amphibious vehicle to promote tourism in the state, Kosmo! reported.

State Tourism, Culture and Information Technology Committee chairman Ariffin Deraman said the vehicle known as the Amphicoach – which can travel on land and in water – had failed safety tests by the Road Transport Department and Marine Department.

Ariffin said the Amphicoach, which the state government had ordered in 2015, did not meet specifications.

The vehicle, which the state government received in January last year, was found to be a modified Man Truck & Bus vehicle and not an Iveco Bus which the state government had ordered, Ariffin said.

“I will propose in the state executive council meeting to reject the project in the near future,” he said.
