Take note of road closures during Tour

PETALING JAYA: Police are asking the public to observe road closure and traffic diversion signs across the country to facilitate the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) cycling championsh­ip which begins on April 6-13.

In Saturday’s first stage from the KLCC Petronas Twin Towers to Tampin Square, Tampin, Negri Sembilan (176.9 km), the closure in stages involves areas around Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negri Sembilan from 6.30am to 7pm.

The second stage of the race from Senawang, Negri Sembilan, to Dataran Pahlawan, Melaka (200.6km) on Sunday involves scheduled road closures from 6.30am to 7.30pm.

The third stage from Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Muar and ending at Dataran Putrajaya, Presint 3 (192.9km) on Monday will involve road diversions in five states namely Johor, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, Selangor and Putrajaya (6.30am to 7.30pm).

The fourth stage (next Tuesday) from Independen­ce Square, Shah Alam to Genting Highlands, Pahang (115.6km) will see road diversions in Selangor and Pahang (6.30am to 5pm).

Several roads in Perak will be closed from 6.30am to 7.40pm for the fifth stage from Proton City, Tanjung Malim to Dataran Warisan, Taiping, next Wed nesday.

The sixth stage from Bagan to Alor Setar from Datuk Haji Ahmad Badawi Hall to the Zahir Mosque, Alor Setar (130.8km) will involve road closures in Penang and Kedah from 6.30am to 3.30pm.

The seventh stage of Langkawi starts and ends at Underwater World, Pantai Cenang (106.8km) with road diversions from 6am to 8.15pm.

The eighth and final stage, which starts from Dataran Lang, Langkawi and ending in Kuah (103.8km) will see traffic diversions from 6.30am to 7.15pm.
