IPOH: The Perak State Assembly Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on Mentri Besar Incorporated’s (MB Inc) financial records is expected to be made public in July.

Speaker Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham said the report, which is currently pending a hearing, would first be tabled at the state assembly sitting for approval before releasing it. “The report is expected to be ready in July. “We are targeting to table it during the second state assembly then,” he said yesterday.

It was reported in October last year that the finances of MB Inc and Movie Animation Park Studios would be audited to check whether there was negligence or fraud.

PAC chairman Leong Cheok Keng had initially called for an open hearing on MB Inc’s finances in November last year but former Perak mentri besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir walked out, calling it unconventional.

A decision was then made to hear the matter behind closed doors.

On an another matter, Ngeh said the first state assembly sitting of the year would be held between April 16 and 23.

He said Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah would give the opening speech on the first day.

“And in conjunction with the opening ceremony, Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab will be closed to traffic from 8am to 10am,” he said.

Ngeh also said that as practised in Parliament, the state assembly sittings for the entire year would be set.

He said the second sitting would take place between July 23 and 30 while the third would be between Nov 12 and 20.

“This will allow all assemblymen to plan their diary and calendar,” Ngeh said.
