Artiste who hurt security guardout on police bail

-

SEREMBAN: A local male artiste who allegedly injured a security guard following an altercation in Taman Acacia, Nilai, last Saturday, has been released on police bail.

Nilai police chief Supt Mohd Nor Marzukee Besar said the instruction was issued by the court after police had applied for a remand order yesterday morning.

He said the artiste surrendered to the Nilai police station on Sunday and police recorded his statement before arresting him.

The artiste was taken to court yesterday to be remanded. But the court ordered him to be released on bail.

“However, we are continuing with the investigation,” Supt Nor Marzukee said.

The artiste was taken to the Seremban Court Complex in a police truck along with other detainees.

When they arrived, he was brought to the Special Remand Court to obtain the remand application.

Prior to that, he was detained at the Nilai district police headquarters when he came to have his statement recorded at 5pm on Sunday.

Supt Nor Marzukee said in the 8pm incident on Saturday, the artiste who was driving a car, had reportedly entered the residential area without permission after following the vehicle of a resident.

“The 68-year-old security guard began pursuing the suspect’s vehicle which did not stop to provide personal details during entry.

After a few minutes when the suspect wanted to leave, he was stopped at the guard post.

“An argument ensued between the two and the suspect, who may have become angry after his vehicle was stopped, reacted by punching the victim on his face three times, besides kicking and hurling stones at the guard,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 427 of the same Act for committing mischief and in the process damaging public property. — Bernama
