SP Setia embracing Kindness Challenge all together
SHAH ALAM: Property developer SP Setia is on a mission to spread more kindness among communities in Malaysia – starting with their own staff.
The company has called on its 2,300 employees to take part in the interactive Kindness Challenge on WhatsApp, which has already seen over 6,000 Malaysians signing up.
The challenge is part of the #StandTogether National Kindness Week movement co-founded by SP Setia and R.AGE.
Tomorrow is the final day for people to sign up.
Challenge participants receive a “Kindness Mission” through a WhatsApp chat bot (developed by R.AGE and U-Report Malaysia) every day for five days and they have 24 hours to complete each mission to unlock a special surprise.
“The most meaningful part for me was the challenge to be kind to my family,” said SP Setia senior project manager Phoon Tuck Choy, who started the challenge last week.
“I think my family is already filled with kindness but that day I made it a point to give my wife and children a hug, and it made our day.”
SP Setia HR communications and special projects manager Nur Sara Abu Bakar said the challenge acts as a simple reminder for Malaysians to practise kindness.
“As a working mother, sometimes we get so busy with our children after work, we forget to just be kind to them.
“So for the past week, I’ve been reminding myself to always take a few minutes once I come home from work to say something kind to the children, and it has made such a huge difference,” said Sara.
SP Setia head of group branding and communications Adelene Wong said the #StandTogether campaign is part of the company’s mission to create more positive, empathetic, and united Malaysian communities.
“Even our CEO (Datuk Khor Chap Jen) will be visiting his school and hometown in Parit Buntar to spread the message of kindness, so clearly this cause is something we are very much committed to.
“But it’s not enough for us to shout about the campaign – we want our employees to be the agents of change, because this is the future of Malaysia, and we all have to play our part,” said Wong.
Several MPs have also signed up for the Kindness Challenge, including Nurul Izzah Anwar, Khairy Jamaluddin, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Kasthuri Patto, and Teo Nie Ching.
Registration for the Kindness Challenge is open until April 10.
