War of words over bungalow continues

SEREMBAN: The war of words over houses between Pakatan Harapan candidate Dr S. Streram and Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan continues with the former denying owning a RM7.8mil house in Klang.

After photos of a luxury mansion linked to Dr Streram’s name emerged online on Monday night, the anaesthesiologist asked his campaign staff to lodge a police report over the post, which was put up on the Facebook page of former Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia founding member Anina Saadudin.

“What was posted on Facebook about me owning the house is fake news. I don’t have a swimming pool at home.

“I don’t have anything to do with this house in Klang. I only found out about the posts after the media asked me about them via WhatsApp.

“I don’t know whose house it is but what I know is that it’s not mine.

“But if anyone wants to gift me a house like that, I would accept it,” quipped Dr Streram when met at Taman Angsamas in Rantau yesterday.

The Facebook post on Anina’s page has attached pictures of a luxury bungalow in Klang, complete with a swimming pool and linked it to Dr Streram.

The accompanying caption reads: “Rumah Dr Streram di Klang. Takkan Doctor boleh beli rumah 7.8 juta. Duit siapa? Siap ada swimming pool lagi. (Dr Streram’s house in Klang. It’s not possible that a doctor can buy a RM7.8mil house. Whose money is it? It even has a swimming pool).”

The claims surfaced shortly after Dr Streram asked Mohamad to explain whether it was true that the latter owned a RM6mil bungalow in Seremban as alleged by viral posts.

“I asked him to explain about the house yesterday but I didn’t accuse him,” said Dr Streram.

With polling day on Saturday, Dr Streram said he would rather focus on meeting voters and campaigning.

“I have told my people to lodge a police report. I don’t have the time to entertain this because there are only four days left,” he said.
