Tok Mat can keep Pakatan govt in check, says MCA

SEREMBAN: Rantau voters must not only give Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan another mandate to provide a strong state opposition but to serve a reminder to Pakatan Harapan of their unfulfilled promises made during the last general election.

Wanita MCA chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie said Mohamad, who served three terms as mentri besar, was undoubtedly the best candidate to represent Rantau folk as he knew the state inside out.

“My appeal also goes out to Pakatan supporters as well because if you want your party to perform better, then you should give your vote to Mohamad.

“By being in the state assembly, he will be able to keep the Pakatan government in check at all times and make sure they perform,” she said at the MCA ops room in Rantau.

Heng said this was necessary as the performances of the Pakatan governments at both the federal and state levels had been poor, with even former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin likening them to learner drivers.

She said being the state opposition chief, Mohamad could also be a mentor to assemblymen.

“Whatever policies that are tabled in the assembly would surely benefit the entire state because it would have been debated by a strong opposition,” she said.

State MCA chief Siow Koi Voon asked the state government if a Chinese local councillor had been appointed in the Nilai Municipal Council in Rantau.

Siow said it made no sense why the community was not represented.
