The 21-year-old Mitchell is a product of Axle Motorsport, a company formed by former Formula One driver Alex Yoong.

Since their establishment in

2008, Axle Motorsport has nurtured many young drivers like

Daim Hishamudin, Weiron Tan and Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi.

“Axle Motorsport is also responsible for driver management, consultations, securing sponsorship and talent development,” said Alex.

For the record, Axle Motorsport will be racing in this year’s Asian Formula Renault Series, Formula 4 China Championship, Formula 4 SEA and ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship.

“At Axle, we are determined to guide young drivers who are coming up through the ranks. There are so many good drivers in Malaysia and with the proper racing management and guidance, I am convinced their talent will not go to waste,” added Alex.

“As a former Formula One driver myself, I am willing to share my experience and help fellow Malaysians who dream of becoming successful racing drivers.

“These days it’s not easy but in Mitchell’s case, I am thrilled with his determination and commitment. I strongly believe he will do well and of course, will make Malaysia proud in the future.”

Mitchell is eager to start the season on a high and finish in a respectable position in the upcoming ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship starting end of April.

“Being the only Malaysian and Asian driver in the championship, it will be an extra motivation for me to do well against the Europeans.

“I’m currently preparing myself physically and mentally before the season starts.

“I would like to thank my parents and Axle Motorsport for making this possible for me and for putting their faith and trust in me. I will not take anything for granted.

“Racing has always been my passion and with this opportunity, I will do my utmost best to be one of the top drivers in the country and the world.”
