Victor wants Kedah to switch focus to Turtles after defeat

PETALING JAYA: Kedah players still can’t get over the defeat to basement club Kuala Lumpur in the Super League.

However, assistant coach Victor Andrag has told them to move on and start afresh against Terengganu at the Darulaman Stadium on Friday.

The former Kedah centreback will take charge against the Turtles as coach Aidil Sharin Ishak is in Kuala Lumpur attending an AFC Professional Diploma course.

“Some players are still disturbed by the defeat. At times, we took things for granted and we paid dearly for it,” said Victor.

“The focus was also not there. These are some matters that we need to iron out,” said the captain of Kedah’s double treble winning side in 2007 and 2008.

“Our start to the season was good and we hope the players can recapture that form.”

The 43-year-old said fatigue could also be the reason for the 2-1 loss as Kedah had toiled for 120 minutes in their 3-2 win over Selangor United in the FA Cup.

“Before the KL match, there wasn’t much recovery period and we could see from their sluggish performance.

“Now that they have enough time to recover, I believe the players are bent on making amends in front of their home crowd.”

Asked on his thoughts of their opponents, who also lost to PKNP 2-1 last week, Victor said: “Every team in the league are dangerous including Terengganu.

“They have their strength and weaknesses, just like us. For me, we have to look at ourselves.

“How do we overcome our poor form? How do we minimise our mistakes?

“And we have a plan to neutralise them.

“We still have a few days of training left so the players will have more time to understand the plan and execute it on Friday.”
