‘PH yet to make rakyat happy’
Tok Mat: Pakatan govt stumbling at every turn
SEREMBAN: Pakatan Harapan has been faltering at every turn since taking over the government 11 months ago, says Rantau Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
He said Pakatan had failed to get enough support in Parliament to pass a Bill to restore the status of Sabah and Sarawak as equal partners in the Malaysian federation.
The government was also forced to withdraw from ratifying the Rome Statute, he said.
“The Pakatan administration is now trying to bulldoze its way by proposing a departure levy on the people.
“Except for promoting a spoonful of palm oil a day that is supposed to be good news, we have not heard anything from the Pakatan government that can make the rakyat happy.
“Every now and then, there are taxes being introduced which are burdening the rakyat.
“Worse still, Pakatan ministers are involved in politicking.
“They need to stop playing taichi because things are certainly not looking good for Malaysians,” he told reporters at his ops centre in Kg Tanjung near here yesterday.
Mohamad was asked to comment on a claim by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim that Barisan and Umno MPs were the reason for the Federal Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2019 failing to get twothirds majority support in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday.
Mohamad said instead of blaming Barisan, Pakatan needs to look at the performance of its ministers.
“I feel sorry for the Prime Minister because he has many passengers in his Cabinet.
“What is our foreign policy today? Do we still have a rural development policy? The only policy change in education is that our children can now wear black shoes,” he said.
Mohamad said Pakatan should not blame Barisan for not getting the two-thirds majority because even the Sarawak parties under the GPS, which were not its allies, did not support the Bill.
Mohamad said Pakatan often failed because it never sought feedback from stakeholders whenever it wished to introduce a policy.
On the allegations that he owned a RM6mil bungalow in Seremban 2 near here, Mohamad said his detractors should know that the Minangkabau-designed mansion was not built to his taste.
“I do not have Minang blood. And if you look at my kampung house, it is designed after a Negri Sembilan Malay home,” he said.
Mohamad, a three-term Rantau assemblyman, will be involved in a four-cornered fight in this Saturday’s contest.
Pakatan Harapan’s Dr S. Streram and independents R Malarvizhi and Mohd Nor Yassin will challenge him.
