Stuart: WFS Asia an eye-opener

PETALING JAYA: The Football Associatio­n of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Stuart Ramalingam (pic) reckons the World Football Summit (WFS) Asia in Sunway from April 28-29 will offer valuable insights for their affiliates.

The WFS Asia is expected to connect close to 2,000 profession­als from the sports and football industry to discuss relevant topics and generate business opportunit­ies.

Stuart said the summit would benefit the affiliates as they look into the business aspect of the sport.

“More than three quarter of our affiliates have responded to our invitation for this summit,” said Stuart.

“We believe interactin­g, networking and building relationsh­ips during the forum will be immensely valuable to all our affiliates.

“Our members should look at this opportunit­y to begin partnershi­p with the clubs, service or product owners to enhance domestic football.”

The two-day summit will witness the gathering of internatio­nal attendees from more than 50 different countries.

It is expected to host more than 22 exhibitors and will be accompanie­d by more than 70 football clubs such as Barcelona, Juventus, Arsenal, Manchester United, Paris St Germain and Borussia Dortmund.

The summit boasts a firstclass line-up of speakers such as director of internatio­nal developmen­t of La Liga Oscar Mayo, Malaysia Football League chairman Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, Asian Football Confederat­ion (AFC) secretary general Datuk Windsor John and FIFA digital transforma­tion and innovation chief officer Luis Vicente.

The summit will also host friendly matches between football legends from La Liga and Southeast Asia which includes the likes of Fernando Morientes, Albert Luque, Christian Karembeu, Gaizka Mendieta, Zainal Abidin Hassan, Fandi Ahmad, Le Cong Vinh, Bambang Pamungkas and many others.
