Min-ho finishes military service

S. Korean heart-throb actor completes mandatory two-year social service stint

SOUTH Korean heart-throb Lee Min-ho was discharged after completing his two years of mandatory military service, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The daily reported that his fans worldwide and the press gathered near the place he was on duty to meet him.

They greeted the 31-year-old actor before he started work on his last day.

Lee, who was wearing a plain white shirt with a black blazer, bowed and waved to his fans before starting his work.

Lee has served as a social service worker in the Gangnam district since May 2017.

Best known for his roles in drama series Boys Over Flowers and City Hunter, as well as feature films such as Gangnam Blues, Lee is one of South Korea’s biggest superstars.

> A barbecue shop owner in Xinjiang who resembles Albert Einstein has enjoyed sudden fame and a boost in his business after a video of him went viral, China Press reported.

Quoting Sing Tao Daily, the owner said a customer took a video of him about three months ago.

Within 24 hours, his business doubled as many customers commented on his similarity to the celebrated German-born physicist.

Curious, he started searching online for Einstein’s photo but was of the opinion that he bore very little resemblanc­e to him.

He now sells near to 1,000 sticks of roasted meat per day and customers have to wait over an hour to get a seat in his shop.

Einstein developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics.

> A five-month-old baby girl diagnosed with biliary atresia has been abandoned by her mother, China Press reported.

She left the baby girl, Meng Han, in Anhui, China, with her grandparen­ts in Xinjiang.

Biliary atresia is a childhood disease of the liver, in which the bile ducts are blocked.

The mother reportedly said it was better to have another child than to spend a lot of money to treat her.

The grandparen­ts reportedly spent all their savings for two operations but Meng Han’s condition did not improve.

They were also not able to contact Meng Han’s parents, but the grandparen­ts are not giving up on her.

The grandmothe­r stayed at the hospital to take care of her while the grandfathe­r continued to work to pay for the medical fees.
