WITH rapid urban development occurring across much of the globe, the quantities of passengers and cargo moving within urban areas has significantly risen over the decades. And though commuting times may seem to increase, different transport technologies and infrastructures are also constantly being put in place to ease commuting. Faster transport modes and a wide variety of urban transport systems around the world, for example, have led to greater distances being travelled using the same amount of time.

In Malaysia, Touch ‘n Go (TNG) has always been in the thick of things where transport and highways are concerned, and has striven to provide commuters with a seamless journey on the road.

Today, it is TNG Digital’s aspiration to champion urban mobility through the eWallet, beginning with toll payments across participating highways.

Almost everyone living in the city would attest to the fact that tolls are a part of their daily lives, and the more efficient this part of the journey is the better for them.

CEO Syahrunizam Samsudin of TNG Digital Sdn Bhd says: “Our role is to enable Malaysians to be mobile in every aspect of life and with PayDirect, our users gets a more seamless experience on the road. They can Terus Go once payment is made for tolls across the enabled highways.”

What is PayDirect?

PayDirect is the latest feature that allows you to pay toll fares directly from your eWallet at participating highways.

Aimed at making toll payments easier, PayDirect is super simple to activate. Users simply add their existing TNG card to the eWallet and activate PayDirect to TerusGo. They then can start using the added TNG card across participating highways within the Klang Valley, including LKSA, Smart Tunnel, DUKE, GCE and SILK highway (Yes! Those of you who are already using PayDirect, the GCE and SILK highway were added to the list of participating highways at the end of March so more users get to enjoy and TerusGo with PayDirect!).

PayDirect is a collective approach to improve driving experience for road users, as they Terus Go at the point of payment at tolls across participating highways and TNG Digital is well on its way to bring commuters more PayDirectenabled highways in the near future.

People love it!

Those who have already tried and tested the eWallet feature, are loving the convenience of it. Commuter Wan Azhar says “You won’t regret it. The world is now at your fingertips.”

Mary K, who drives to work and has to pay tolls every day, says: “I am really waiting for more highways to participate, as I find the eWallet a great way to top up funds for tolls. I am the kind of person who always forgets to top up my TNG card and will be dreading each toll both because I can’t remember if I have sufficient funds. Worst case scenario is when I don’t have enough the cars behind me start honking angrily!”

Indeed, with PayDirect, such fears will be a thing of the past, as the auto reload feature will take care of those who frequently forget to top up their funds.

Haryani Ibrahim agrees saying: “So far I am happy with this eWallet. I wish to enjoy the eWallet more and make payments at more tolls.”

Plans are already being laid out for PayDirect to be expanded to include more touchpoints at toll booths and highways in the coming months, so that users will experience the convenience of using this feature to pass through toll booth systems within Klang Valley and subsequently, nationwide.

Syahrunizam added that TNG Digital’s vision is for Malaysians to be able to adopt seamlessness in mobility. “Soon the eWallet will also be applicable to parking and transit.”
