> Anniversary reflections

On May 9, 2018, the rakyat’s main agenda (truly) in changing the government was to remove corruption and get the “house” in order. The new government has been diligent in carrying out its duties and fulfilling our primary need. So, why the sudden obsession with the manifesto and reprimanding Pakatan Harapan for the delay in realising all of the pledges within one year? The government heard you and prioritized the needs, yet it is continuously being criticized. What a shame.

Happy first anniversary to Pakatan Harapan. You get my unequivocal vote of confidence. Granted it has not been an easy one year. You took over the reins with problems to fix and you could not fulfil your overblown manifesto. Some of your ministers are frankly not up to the mark, but you are working hard to turn things around. Tun Dr M’s leadership deserves more time to achieve its agenda. The rakyat should support this government wholeheartedly. – Beatle No.5

I would liken the life of a newly born child to the Pakatan Harapan government. Parents start dreaming of their child becoming a professional perhaps in 30 years’ time. Pakatan is only one year old, yet people are expecting miracles. Be patient. – Jit Singh, Seri Kembangan

I think the government has tried its best but it needs to improve. However, assessing its performance after only one year is not fair, and insisting that all promises made in the manifesto must be fulfilled regardless of the situation is not logical. – Janq

Congratulations, Pakatan Harapan government. You may not be perfect but you are doing a good job. A big salute to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for waging war against corruption. Pakatan’s victory on May 9, 2018 would not have happened without Dr Mahathir. Long live Dr Mahathir and our grand lady, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah.
