PETALING JAYA: His late mother will never be able to read the WhatsApp messages he sent but for grieving son Mohammad Azizul Abdul Aziz (pic), 27, it is the only way he can express how much he misses her.

This Ramadan is the first that he is spending without his beloved Hafsah Jaafar, who passed away from breast cancer in January at the age of 62.

Mohammad Azizul, who is the youngest of three siblings, expressed how much he missed his mother by sending WhatsApp messages to her old phone number.

He then uploaded screenshots of the heart-wrenching messages on his Twitter account and the post has since gone viral.

“I purposely sent those messages to her old number because my heart is missing my beloved mother so much. Only God knows how I feel.

“The fasting month this year is so lonely without her. I lost my father when I was four years old, but I was too young to understand loss at the time. Since then, I was always with my mother.

“Now that she’s gone, everything has changed.

“I take my pre-dawn meal alone and break my fast alone because my sister and brother are married and have their own families,” he told mStar.

Mohammad Azizul, who trades at a farmer’s market in Batu Pahat, Johor, said he admired his mother’s strength and sacrifice in raising three children alone.

Following her death, he has been living alone at their house in Batu Pahat.

Mohammad Azizul and his siblings were by their mother’s side when she drew her last breath, he said.

“I’m thankful to my mother for being so strong in raising the three of us. Thank you, mak.

“Appreciate your mother while she is still alive. Don’t forget to ask how is she doing and never hurt her feelings because paradise lies beneath her feet,” he said.

The screenshots of the messages Mohammad Azizul sent to his late mother has tugged at the heartstrings of netizens, with many sending their condolences to him.

His posting on Twitter has so far garnered 9,000 retweets and 8,700 likes.
