Religious council gives RM1.35mil to 14 hospitals
KUALA LUMPUR: The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Almarhum Sultan Iskandar today handed RM1.35mil contribution from the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) to 14 hospitals in the federal territories.
The ceremony, held at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz near here, was also attended by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Fuziah Salleh, MAIWP chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Aziz Jusoh and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia vice-chancellor Prof Ir Dr Mohd Hamdi Abd Shukor.
After the ceremony, Tunku Azizah took the opportunity to visit patients at the Paediatric, Oncology and Haematology Ward at the hospital and distributed cash and hampers to them.
Fuziah, when met by reporters, said besides Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, other recipients of the contribution from MAIWP were the Malaysian Medical Welfare Fund, Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, Kuala Lumpur Hospital, Putrajaya Hospital, National Heart Institute, Selayang Hospital, National Cancer Council, Malaysian Cancer Foundation, Tuanku Mizan Malaysian Armed Forces Hospital, Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital, Pusrawi Hospital, Labuan Hospital and National Heart Institute Foundation.
She said the contribution by MAIWP this year was higher than the RM1.25mil last year, and she attributed it to the increase in tithe collection from the public and the corporate sector. — Bernama.
