Four nabbed while packing drugs worth over RM1,200

-

ALOR SETAR: Police detained four men and seized 31.35g of heroin and syabu worth more than RM1,200 in a raid at a house in Pendang.

Pendang district police chief Deputy Supt Arriz Sham Hamezah said the suspects, aged between 34 and 46, were detained at 2.30am yesterday as they were busy packing the drugs at the house.

“Four men were sitting on the floor in the room and police checks found nine packets containing heroin weighing 26.75g, eight packets of syabu weighing 4.60g, a pair of scissors, a digital weighing scale and 10 empty transparent plastic packets.

“We believe the suspects wanted to earn duit raya by selling drugs to addicts around the area,” he said in a statement.

He said all the suspects also tested positive for drugs.

A check also found that all of them had previous drug-related records.

In Jeli, meanwhile, police seized 430kg of ketum leaves worth RM13,000 during a road block in Kampung Salor, Batu Melintang, on Saturday.

Jeli district police chief Deputy Supt Ahmad Arifin said the leaves were found after inspecting a car with two people, aged 21 and 30, on board at 1.30pm.

“Police found 43 black plastic packages with 2,133 packs of opaque plastics containing what is believed to be ketum leaves.

“A clear plastic package tied with rubber bands containing brownish liquid suspected to be ketum water and a white plastic bottle allegedly containing cough mixture were also found in the car,’’ he told reporters at the Jeli district police headquarters yesterday.

He said the suspects were paid RM400 to deliver the drugs for the Machang market from Kedah.

“One suspect also had a criminal record.

“They have been remanded for four days to help in the investigation under Section 30(3) Poisons Act 1952 and Sections 12(3) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,’’ he added.
