PUTRAJAYA : Graft investigators are trying to determine the individuals who allegedly received RM135mil in kickbacks from the project to supply equipment for military armoured vehicles.

These latest findings were much more than what investigators had initially uncovered where the alleged graft was said to involve hundreds of thousands of ringgit.

It is learnt this latest bit of information was uncovered during a recent interrogation of a former boss of a company which allegedly had “offered payment” to secure a contract.

“Not only do we want to know who received cuts from this (RM135mil in kickbacks), we also want to find out who is the mastermind of this activity,” said a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission source.

Sources said that information received revealed that the kickbacks were for contracts to supply military armoured vehicles – the AV8 and AV4 – valued at RM7.5bil as well as for the Adnan project which was worth RM17mil.

The AV8 and AV4 are multi-role wheeled armoured vehicles while the Adnan is an armoured carrier vehicle.

It is learnt that to date, 30 witnesses were called in for questioning. So far, four people have been remanded.

The latest remand yesterday involved a former chief executive officer of a company. Earlier on, the current CEO and chief financial officer were also remanded in connection with the case.

The latest suspect will be held for four days after Magistrate Siti Roslizawati Mohd Zanin allowed application by the MACC prosecutors.

The other individual is the owner of a company, said to be among the companies which had offered money in return for contracts.
