Newlyweds spend ‘honeymoon’ in lock-up after being caught with drugs

A newlywed couple from Tumpat were forced to spend their “honeymoon” in a lock-up after they were arrested for being in possession of drugs, reported Sinar Harian.

They were caught with an assortment of drugs worth RM11,500.

“The Proton Waja, which was bought with cash, was also seized,” said Tumpat Police District Headquarters police chief Superintendent Ab Rashid Mat Daud.

The man and wife, aged 40 and 38 respectively, got married on Sept 12.

Ab Rashid said the couple would be remanded for seven days to assist in investigations.

According to a report by Harian Metro, the jerseys were sold at RM40 each for locals. Foreign customers were charged RM60 each.

The syndicate was uncovered by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry during a raid in Kuala Lumpur.

A Bangladeshi and a Myanmar national were arrested.

“A foreigner admitted that he was hired to sell imitation football jerseys, particularly those involving EPL teams such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal,” a ministry official said.

He added that the syndicate bought the jerseys from foreign suppliers for RM15 to RM20 each.
