> Help for delinquents

Since the Education Ministry has the biggest share of the budget pie, hope some of the funds can be used to address juvenile delinquency. Engage these young persons to do something useful with their lives. Organise workshops to teach them how to repair machines, etc. Get them to learns skills for a better future.

> People’s university

I fully support Dr Mohd Tajuddin’s views in “Make TAR UC a true people’s university” (Oct 15, online at https://bit.

ly/2VKoQW ). I did not vote in a new government to deprive my children of a good local institution of higher learning. My daughter is now in her final year at TAR UC and she was accepted into the college despite my voting against MCA. – Jason

> Harming the environment

It’s not surprising that the Perak state government evicted people who promote sustainable living in an ecofarm, as it embraces deforestation, displacement of wildlife and logging activities in Lenggong. Where are we heading?

> Answers needed

> Affordable housing

Perhaps we can learn from HDB Singapore on how to provide affordable housing for Malaysians. – SRI

> Review university courses

Graduates are jobless because our local universities are churning out graduates with degrees in irrelevant courses not suited to our job market. Review the courses. – Lee Hui Seng

> Wrong message

Allowing foreigners to buy RM600,000 properties will send the wrong message to developers. They will build more high-end condos instead of affordable homes.

> Speedy action

Referring to the letter “The Malaysian Bar will brook no dishonesty” (The Star, Oct 15), lawyers who cheat the public bring disrepute to the legal profession and themselves. The Malaysian Bar must instil discipline in its members and act speedily on those who do wrong. – Bulbir Singh
