PETALING JAYA: A man has been arrested after his former housemate – an auxiliary policewoman – was smothered to death at her home here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said the incident occurred at around 12.45am on Friday.

“We were alerted about the case after a 25-year-old man who was close to the victim made a distress call after finding the victim lying unconscious at an apartment in Damansara Damai.

“A police team found the apartment in a mess, but there was no sign of forced entry.

“The 25-year-old victim was lying on the floor in one of the bedrooms with injuries on the forehead, eyes and lower neck as well as bleeding from her nose,” he told reporters at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters yesterday.

“A post-mortem revealed that the victim suffered blunt force trauma to her head and eyes as well as a broken nose,” he said, adding that the victim died after she was smothered by a pillow.

No weapon was found at the scene, but the victim’s mobile phone and wallet were missing.

“Investigations also revealed the apartment was rented by a 22-year-old man. We tracked him down and arrested him at the Kampung Baru Subang police station at 8.40pm on the same day.

“Investigations revealed the suspect and victim were former housemates in that apartment. We are now investigating the motive for the murder,” he said, adding that the suspect has been remanded to help with investigations.
