KUALA LUMPUR: A call by the Selangor Mentri Besar to show proof of a plot to topple the government via “back door” has added a twist to the controversy.

While DAP and PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail asserted their claims of such a plot, Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari’s insistence for proof has raised eyebrows as he is a supporter of PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, who is known to have differences with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“If there is proof, bring it up to the Pakatan Harapan council and discuss the matter properly.

“If the issue is left floating without a solution, it will only cause unnecessary worry for the twoyear-old government that came into power with a lot of hope, ” he told reporters yesterday.

Meanwhile, former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has once again denied that he is a player in the supposed plot.

He said that Pakatan’s allegations of a backdoor government being plotted were a reflection of its own insecurity and internal problems.

Pakatan, he said, should not blame him, Umno or Barisan Nasional.

“You have to sort out your own problems internally,” he told reporters.

He challenged Saifuddin to back his statements.

“These are just speculation. I feel they are very insecure

“They are scared of their own shadow and when they are worried, they blame others and do not reflect on themselves,” he claimed.

It was reported that PKR had insisted that it had sufficient evidence to prove that a plot exists to remove DAP and Amanah from the government, despite an earlier denial by Hishammuddin that he was behind the plan.

Saifuddin said yesterday that “concrete evidence” of such efforts would be made known.

“When the time comes, we will disclose whatever we have,” he said.

DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang claimed in a statement that the “desperation” to bring down the Pakatan government was because of the High Court’s impending decision on Nov 11 on whether the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Datuk Seri

Najib Razak’s SRC International case.

He claimed that the Umno and PAS conspirators wanted to cause the downfall of the government, as it could no longer use the no-confidence motion in Parliament to achieve its means.

Lim also claimed that attempts to link DAP to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam organisation was part of the attacks against the Pakatan government.
