Fit and grateful Farhan wants to help Kedah win again

PETALING JAYA: Farhan Roslan has a huge debt to pay and he wants to clear it by helping Kedah win the Malaysia Cup.

The diminutive flanker and teammates will take on Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in the final at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.

Farhan made his name after helping the Red Eagles win the Malaysia Cup in 2016 when they drew 1-1 in regulation time with Selangor.

They went on to win the penalty shootout 6-5 to left the trophy.

A year later Kedah also won the FA Cup and then disaster struck last season when the 22-year-old picked up an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in a friendly against Perlis on April 2018 and was out for the entire season.

Now back on his feet, Farhan is grateful to the management and coach Aidil Sharin Sahak and will do everything he can to repay their faith in him by winning the Cup.

“The management took care of me when I was injured. Our physiotherapist Mohd Nur’Illya Samsuddin kept a close eye on me after my surgery so that I can make a quick and full recovery,” said Farhan, who made 18 appearances for Kedah this season.

“I have finally started playing this season and I must thank coach Aidil for putting his trust in me although he joined us early this season.

“Thanks to them, I tasted glory when we won the FA Cup in July and now we have another chance to win the Malaysia Cup. I’m fully fit now and I want to win as many silverware as possible with Kedah.”

Farhan, who played in the 2017 Malaysia Cup final where they lost 2-0 to JDT, is eager to make up for the disappointment.

“I don’t believe in revenge ... it was their rezeki (good fortune) to win at that time and I hope this time it will be ours.”

He also added that they should continue the momentum from their semi-final matches against Pahang where they clawed their way back to win on away goals rule after the tie ended 8-8 on aggregate last week.

“If we can perform like how we did against Pahang, I’m confident we can lift the Cup.”
