PETALING JAYA: A customisable personal landing page is now available exclusively to registered members of The Star Online for better reading and viewing experience.

With this feature, members can keep abreast of news and stories from topics and columnists that interest them.

“Once you’re a registered member, this new ‘For You’ feature allows you to curate a list of columnists and subjects that interest you, saving time and effort from having to wade through hundreds of articles daily to find what you want,” said Star Media Group (SMG) chief content officer Esther Ng.

The mobile app’s navigation menu has an added feature that allows users to rearrange and display only their favourite content sections.

Breaking news is also delivered in a seamless, interactive and personalised manner. Whether on app or web, members will have unlimited access to stories, interactive graphics videos and more.

We’ve also introduced an in-app search function, enabling users to search for specific articles, she added.

The features, Ng said, were developed with today’s readers in mind. “We’re content producers but we are also consumers.

“With information overload across platforms, and only that many hours in a day to browse, we want to make sure that you get quality content in a way that’s enjoyable, hassle-free and relevant to you,” she said, adding that members can also bookmark articles for later reading.

“If a feature story catches your attention but you’re rushing for a meeting, just save it. You can read it later.”

All saved articles are synchronised across devices, meaning that bookmarked links are accessible on your phone, tablet and desktop.

To minimise battery drain and reduce glare, members can switch to the app’s dark mode.

“Many of these features are already available but new, exciting features will be introduced moving forward.

“So please register as a member and update your app regularly for the latest features,” said Ng.

Also, from today, we have tweaked the masthead of The Star Online to give it a new zing.
