> Do more for the money

JKKK aka MPKK (village development and security Committee and village Community management Council respectively): do people know what these entities stand for and what they are supposed to do? These village representatives could do better than just organising a gotong-royong once in a blue moon. They should be more proactive in ensuring the community’s safety and wellbeing. For example, note incidents of indiscriminate littering, overgrown trees, broken drains – the list could go on and on – and bring the problems to the attention of the relevant authorities. The ketua should not be a mere seat-warmer. They have responsibility commensurate with the allowance they receive. – Janq

> Park is for jogging

recreational parks in Ipoh are slowly turning into hawker centres. some visitors to these parks are dirtying the surroundings with leftover food that attract flies and other pests. The popular Pologround Park, for instance, is swarming with flies, which is very irritating for visitors. The authorities should relocate hawkers to a suitable place away from the jogging tracks. Please don’t turn recreational parks into food centres. – s. Param

> High parking fee

I am appalled that the maximum parking fee at the multi-storey car park of Hospital Kuala Lumpur is rm20 per day. This is much too expensive even compared to parking at private hospitals. Please review as visitors to this hospital are mainly from low to middle income groups. – Jaspreet Kaur

> Parental contribution

> Okay but for potholes

Construction of SUKE (sungai besi-Ulu Kelang) expressway is okay but please resurface the stretch from ampang Point to bandar baru ampang, which has lots of potholes and loose gravel.

> Unruly lorry drivers

The recent protest by lorry drivers claiming unfair treatment reminds me of european drivers who strike for better pay and benefits. They are self regulated and professional. In malaysia, however, most drivers of heavy lorries are rude, overworked, less disciplined, fight for jobs and challenge the road Transport department. – S. T. Raj
