Top brass in Selangor to contribute to special aid fund
Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Amirudin Shari and the state executive councillors will take a 50% pay cut while state assemblymen will give up 30% of their salaries for the Selangor Covid-19 Special Aid Fund.
The state’s top civil servants as well as those heading Selangor’s government-linked companies will also take a 30% pay cut.
“So far, we have managed to collect RM260,000 in contributions from the executive councillors and assemblymen,’’ Amirudin told reporters after announcing the state’s second economic stimulus package yesterday.
Amirudin said RM8.07mil will be obtained from the pay cuts.
The state’s second stimulus package comes with a total allocation of RM272mil.
A mass Covid-19 screening would be held at hotspots and red zones in the state with the target to reach 5,000 people at a cost of RM1.35mil, he said.
In appreciation of the sacrifices made by the medical frontliners, RM1.344mil will go towards free food aid for them for the duration of the movement control order.
The package will also involve efforts to care for the frontliners’ children, with some 2,500 families receiving a total of RM1.5mil.
Those who are infected will receive RM1,000 each.
Other aspects include:
> RM2mil for the purchase of face masks, hand sanitisers and gloves to be distributed to the people;
> RM3mil will be allocated to the state’s quarantine stations which will house Persons Under Surveillance from the Sri Petaling mosque tabligh cluster and overseas arrivals;
> State assemblymen will receive a second allocation of RM30,000 to help their constituents.
