Salcon contributes RM100,000 to SMG initiative

-

A water solutions provider has joined the Star Media Group’s (SMG) endeavour to help in the fight against Covid-19, by donating to the “Star Frontliners Initiative”.

Salcon Bhd has contributed RM100,000 to SMG’s mission to provide essential medical supplies and equipment for healthcare professionals as well as frontliners who put their lives at risk battling the pandemic.

Salcon executive deputy chairman Tan Sri Tee Tiam Lee (pic) said the company hoped their contribution would help ease the burden of the Health Ministry in buying medical equipment, medicines, reagents, disposable items and other medical necessities.

“During this unprecedented Covid-19 crisis, the world is facing a shortage and rapidly escalating costs of medical supplies and equipment.

“Malaysia’s healthcare systems and facilities are also overwhelmed by the spike in the number of cases recently,” he said.

“As a caring corporate citizen, it is our responsibility to support our unsung heroes in the medical profession who are working tirelessly for the nation,” Tee added.

SMG had pledged RM1mil to kickstart the Frontliners Initiative set up under Star Foundation.

The collected funds will be used to purchase essential medical supplies in collaboration with the Health Ministry.

Donations can be made to Star Foundation – Medical Fund’s Public Bank account (31-9984-9230) via bank transfer, credit or debit cards.

Star Foundation, established in 2004, is the charitable arm of Star Media Group and is aimed at delivering meaningful initiatives with lasting outcomes to a diverse group of beneficiaries.

The foundation started its Medical Fund programme five years ago to help individuals and families in dire need of financial aid and medical attention.

Aside from donating to the “Star Frontliners Iniative”, Salcon also announced that it would give RM100,000 to selected welfare homes amid the financial uncertainty due to the ongoing public health crisis.

“In support of the government’s initiative to ensure the welfare of the nation, we hope that our small contribution will alleviate the burden of some of the most vulnerable in our society,” said Tee.

Salcon is a water and wastewater solutions provider, offering technical and management capability, as well as advanced technology and expertise in the industry.
