Frontliners receive PPE worth RM1.4mil

-

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has received personal protective equipment (PPE) worth nearly RM1.4mil for its frontliners from various foundations and corporations in the country.

The contribution included 50,000 sets of PPE worth RM1mil contributed by Yayasan MyPrihatin, with the collaboration of Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd (PruBSN).

“The demand for PPE has gone up due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Through Yayasan MyPrihatin’s platform Projek Prihatin, we are able to produce PPE to protect our medical frontliners who have sacrificed their energy and personal safety to look after their patients,” said PruBSN chief executive officer and PruBSN Prihatin chairman Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail.

“Hopefully, this contribution will further boost our healthcare workers, who are most affected physically and mentally because they have to carry out their duties in a highrisk environment,” Wan Saifulrizal added.

Wan Saifulrizal and Yayasan MyPrihatin chairman Prof Datuk Dr Halimaton Hamdan handed the contribution to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba during a simple ceremony yesterday.

Under the Projek Prihatin initiative, some 60 housewives, single mothers and disabled persons from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang were involved in the production of the PPE.

“The project provides an opportunity for these individuals to generate income during economic difficulties brought on by the pandemic.

“There will be more participants in the future,” said Projek Prihatin in a statement.
