Petronas releases animated webfilm for Raya

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas has released its first fully animated webfilm titled Antara Dua Jendela in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

The intent behind the webfilm is to remind the people that they are not alone in facing the Covid-19 pandemic and to discover the simple joys in life.

Themed “Our Unique Family”, the webfilm zooms into relationships that blossom through kindness and support – traits that are especially important among members of various communities as the world tries to adjust to a new way of life.

The webfilm opens with a scene at a tranquil village, where two kampung houses named Uda and Dara are seen expressing their love for one another. The story unfolds to show the house owners, Pak Tam and Mak Teh, who are complete opposite in character.

Over the years, the tension that simmered between the two grew more apparent, especially during Hari Raya, putting a strain on Uda and Dara’s relationship.

With the absence of the balik kampung exodus and open house visits this year, Pak Tam and Mak Teh decide to set aside their differences as they discover a silver lining in the situation.

Petronas senior general manager of group strategic communications Zahariah Abdul Rahman said: “Our aspiration is to bring joy to Malaysians amid these challenging times.

“This webfilm also serves as a reminder that we are not alone during these unprecedented times. It is important to appreciate those nearest to us,” said Zahariah.

She expressed hope that the webfilm would be a source of motivation for the people to continue thriving and finding a ray of light in their lives.

For nearly 46 years, Zahariah said Malaysians had constantly been Petronas’ source of inspiration, with the people’s uniqueness being continuously celebrated in its festive webfilms.

“This animated piece has certainly pushed us beyond our comfort zone.

“We need to adapt quickly and experiment with new storytelling techniques,” she said.

The webfilm can be viewed on Petronas’ official YouTube channel and Facebook page. The 90-second commercial version will be aired on television until June 14. — Bernama
