Sunway University among world’s Top 500 for business studies
SUNWAY University is now ranked among the top 500 universities in the world for Business and Management Studies, according to the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020.
The Rankings is based upon academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact, and covers a total of 48 disciplines that are grouped into five broad subject areas namely, Art and Humanities; Engineering and Technology; Life Sciences and Medicine; Natural Sciences; and Social Sciences and Management.
Sunway University vice-chancellor Prof Graeme Wilkinson said the achievement represents another milestone of its journey to become a world-leading institution.
“For the first time, we are ranked in the top 2% of universities in the world for this subject area, demonstrating that Sunway University is continuing to make good progress.”
He thanked and congratulated the varsity’s members for raising the profile of the academic and research activities related to the field of business and management studies.
“This subject ranking demonstrates the excellent performance of Sunway University Business School (SUBS) in terms of academic and employer reputation as well as research contributions. Business related research in other schools has also contributed to this ranking,” he said, adding that SUBS programmes are aimed at developing graduates who will thrive in organisations be it in the private or public sector.
Besides providing an education in business that provides students with the fundamentals, theories and processes for a greater understanding of the principles in business, SUBS students are equipped with cutting-edge skills necessary for tomorrow’s dynamic environment as well as exposure to best business practices.
Established in 2006, programmes offered by SUBS include bachelor degrees in Accounting and Finance, Business Analytics, Business Management, Entrepreneurship, International Business, Global Supply Chain Management, Business Studies, Marketing, Financial Analysis and Financial Economics; master programmes in Business Administration,
Marketing and Human Resource Management; and a PhD in Business.
Upon successful completion of their programme, graduates are awarded two scrolls; one from Sunway University and one from Lancaster University, United Kingdom.
