Musa demands RM1bil, retraction, apology from Yayasan Sabah

-

KOTA KINABALU: Former chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman is demanding RM1bil from the Yayasan Sabah board of trustees for statements made in connection with an RM872mil suit filed against him.

Musa’s lawyer Tengku Fuad Tengku Ahmad said he had been instructed to issue letters of demand to the foundation’s trustees, including Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, to retract and apologise for the claims.

Tengku Fuad said Musa wants Mohd Shafie, Yayasan Sabah director Datuk Jamalul Kiram and the other members of the board, as well as their lawyer Datuk Douglas Lind, to retract their claims made at a press conference to disclose the suit against Musa.

Tengku Fuad said Musa wants them to pay RM1bil to a charity of his choice, an unconditional apology and a retraction of the statements made on the suit.

“The apology and retraction should be published in all newspapers and online media sites,” he said, adding that the apology could come via fax or email within 24 hours.

Tengku Fuad said Musa also wants all parties to refrain from repeating the allegations.

“Musa said the effect of the press conference, press release and publication of the writ has caused damage and loss to his good name and reputation and is now taking legal proceedings against those responsible,” he added.

According to Tengku Fuad, they had tried to serve the letter of demand to Mohd Shafie at his house but he had declined it.

“We consider it served.” They are also serving the letter of demand to the other trustees and the foundation’s lawyer.

The foundation had on Friday announced that it was suing Musa for RM872mil to recover monies related to Yayasan Sabah’s timber revenues during his tenure as chairman.
