Social media education campaign on

UNDERPRIVILEGED students in the Klang Valley will be getting laptops, thanks to the #iMovewithHP campaign.

To kick off the HP Inc Malaysia campaign, 50 units of HP 14 laptops will be donated to needy in support of Teach For Malaysia’s (TFM) efforts to make learning from home possible for everyone.

Schools that have a high population of underprivileged students are being identified so that families can be nominated to receive the devices, said TFM chief executive officer Chan Soon Seng.

Thanking HP Inc for its contribution, Chan said the organisation would ramp up its work to ensure students with the least resources are not left behind.

HP managing director (Malaysia) Fayza Mohamed Amin said #iMovewithHP was created to support communities who lack access to technology that is vital in continuing education and work.

“As consumers keep working and learning from home, we want Malaysians to play a part in reaching out to help our local community by improving access to education in our new normal.

“As one nation, we can support the future of Malaysia together,” he said, adding that the collaboration between HP Malaysia and TFM was born from the combined drive to ensure vulnerable communities are able to adapt to the changing education landscape.

Together with popular Malaysian personalities, Jestinna Kuan, Zamaera, Nurin Afiqah and Sean Lee, the Instagram-based campaign aims to inspire fellow Malaysians to come together to be creative with technology while supporting the local community in learning and working from home.

Each content creator will share their own social media challenges in line with their passions.

These challenges will encourage their followers to learn a skill set and share their newly acquired skill on social media tagging #iMovewithHP.

This combined community effort will go on to help the less fortunate, with HP Malaysia donating one extra laptop to TFM for every 50 submissions received.

The laptops will then be distributed to underprivileged students in the B40 community.

HP Malaysia received 393 posts over the first three weeks of the campaign, allowing the company to donate a total of 60 laptops to needy students.

SMK Segambut received 30 units while another 30 were presented to SMK Tengku Ampuan Jemaah early this month.
