Virtual job hunt to help PTPTN borrowers find work
A virtual job hunt is being organised to help National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers find employment.
Those looking for jobs will also be coached online by Social Security Organisation (Socso) counsellors.
PTPTN chief executive officer Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid said the collaboration with Socso was to help borrowers find potential employers besides preparing them for interviews, which would also be conducted online.
“PTPTN borrowers who register for this programme can join the various webinars,” he told a press conference yesterday after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Socso.
Modules for the “Virtual Mini Job Hunt for PTPTN borrowers” will include motivation, online personality, English communication and sessions with Bank Negara Malaysia, Credit Counselling and Debt
Management Agency and employers.
Ahmad Dasuki said the virtual job hunt would run from June 30 to July 3.
A series of career talk webinars will be held on June 30 and July 1 while interviews will be held online on July 2 and 3.
A total of 4,609 job vacancies would be available during this period, he said, involving 20 companies.
“The virtual mini job hunt is open to borrowers, regardless of their age, who are either working but are looking for new opportunities or graduates who are unemployed.
“We are aware of the difficulties PTPTN graduates are facing in finding employment,” he said, adding that the strategic collaboration with Socso was formed by the Higher Education Ministry and the corporation to tackle the issue.
Socso chief executive officer Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed said all sectors were involved in the virtual job hunt, from education, service and manufacturing to banking and retail.
The highest pay, he said, ranged between RM4,000 and RM5,000.

Also present at the MoU signing ceremony were Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad and Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.
