Liew torn between Shafie and Anwar

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PKR chairman Datuk Christina Liew is torn between Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal – recently proposed by the Opposition as a candidate for the prime minister’s post – and her boss Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is the rightful candidate for the premiership for Pakatan Harapan.

Liew said all Sabahans felt honoured with the possibility of an east Malaysian being a prime minister, but again Anwar was “all the time” the designated Pakatan prime minister choice.

“It has been more than half a century and we finally have a Sabah leader with prime minister quality as candidate to lead the nation.

“Shafie is an experienced administrator. He is a man of vision and mission. As Sabahans, we are happy to see this happening,” she said during a 90-minute discussion hosted by Conan Teo on Facebook.

Also in the discussion were Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president Junz Wong and Warisan women’s youth deputy chief Joanna Rampas.

Liew, a Deputy Chief Minister, said she welcomed the proposal for Shafie to be nominated as prime minister as she believes that many federal-state issues could be resolved with an east Malaysian at the helm of the Federal Government.

Liew said Anwar was equally capable for the top post. Describing the issue as an internal dispute, she hoped the national coalition would resolve it and make clear its choice.

Liew, the Sabah Pakatan chairman, hopes that both DAP and Parti Amanah Negara would decide on the new development and bring it to the Pakatan presidential council and make a final decision as a “way forward”.
