Hackles raised over rocker’s improper remarks

-

DISGRACED rock musician Liu Yao is once again accused of being a paedophile after he publicly admitted that he and his adopted daughter had an excellent relationship, Sin Chew Daily reported.

“It’s best not to reveal everything here,” the guitarist wrote on Weibo.

One of the founding members of indie rock band The Wild Cooperative, Liu was fired from the band on Wednesday after making sexually explicit posts targeting underage girls on the Chinese microblogging site.

He started with tagging a 15-yearold actress on June 28, saying that her performance made him “excited”. Last week, he tagged Chinese singer Zhang Hanyun to write about his fantasy of her.

His comments riled up Internet users who called Liu “disgusting” and branded him a “paedophile”.

> Rumours are rife that Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, 41, is now pregnant again after giving birth in January, the daily also reported.

Zhang, known to be an exercise buff, had showcased a slim figure as she returned to work in May after maternity leave. However, a recent photo of her with a visible bump caused many to speculate that she is pregnant with her third child.

> A woman from Thailand’s Chumphon province was arrested for stealing school uniform but walked free after a good Samaritan paid for the attire, China Press reported.

The 26-year-old, whose husband lost his job due to the Covid-19 pandemic, wanted to ensure their eightyear-old daughter had a proper set of uniform when school reopened on Wednesday.

Her act was caught on CCTV, but the store manager dropped charges after a sympathetic customer paid 1,200 baht (RM166.40) for the stolen items.
