Distance does not make the heart grow fonder, says Jasazrin

The non-contact training is beginning to have an adverse effect on Super League side Felda United.

Skipper Jasazrin Jamaluddin said after a month of social distancing on the field, the players are hoping that the government will allow full contact training soon.

The Youth and Sports Ministry will be meeting with the National Security Council (NSC) on July 9 to decide whether to give the green light.

“It’s starting to get hard to train without contact.

“We can’t do our tactical training because all the players are not on the field. This situation puts us in a tough spot.

“Currently we have no problems with the standard operating procedures.

“I really hope there will be full contact training soon as the number of Covid-19 cases have dwindled. And hopefully we can resume the season earlier instead of Sept 1.”

Defender Azmizi Azmi echoed his captain’s sentiments and added that full contact training is vital to get back the chemistry between the players.

“A team’s training is incomplete if players can’t train together.

“We need all players to be on the same page after missing training for more than three months,” said Azmizi.

Before the league was suspended on March 16, Felda, after four matches, are sixth on five points.

They opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw with Petaling Jaya City.

They went down to Sabah 3-1 but bounced back against Melaka with a 3-2 victory.

Their last game was against league champions Johor Darul Ta’zim which ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
